In Kuwait, I worked in a large and incredibly successful mixed international school for 16 years. This was an English medium school with both first and second language speakers. Durham University has recently put this school in the top 10% of International schools in the world based on student achievement at AS and A Level. I taught Chemistry from Year 7 to Year 13. The Chemistry department obtained outstanding results and had high "added value" scores every year.
Alongside my teaching job, I became very established in Kuwait as a Chemistry tutor. Tuitions were carried out in groups in my own house, mostly with regular students who were preparing for external examinations at the end of the school year. However, I also worked with home study students, mature students, students who wanted to enter the examination early and retake students who had not been happy with their grade.
Most students began tuition in September, attending on a weekly basis in order to be taught / review the theory of the course. Practice of past papers started in March, giving plenty of time to go through about 10 years worth of past papers. New students would always join the groups at this time.
Examination technique is vital in ensuring students achieve their full potential and have access to the top grades. Most students who attended my tuitions received A* grades in the Cambridge IGCSE examination and A grade in the AS examination.
I have now returned to live in the UK and am based in Evesham, Worcestershire. I have 19 years experience of teaching in schools and 19 years tuition experience. I have now been tutoring online for over 3 years. I am an examiner and have recently marked A2 level examinations. I would now like to share my knowledge and skills with both local pupils and students worldwide.
