Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 15 May 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Simply Chemistry. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of my tuition services. By booking a session, you agree to accept all terms and conditions written here.
1. General Terms for All Tuition
1.1 Payment
Advanced payment is required on a monthly basis for all tuition. I will only teach lessons that have been paid for in advance. Fees for lessons will be reviewed yearly, at the start of each academic school year.
1.2 Scheduling
I can only timetable weekly lessons and cannot accommodate fortnightly lessons. My timings are based on BST from April-October and GMT from November-March. The student is responsible for adjusting their schedule during the changeover between BST and GMT.
1.3 Lesson Conduct & Login
Lessons will start at the scheduled time. If you do not log in within the first 20 minutes of the scheduled start time and do not contact me, I will consider the lesson to be cancelled. Payment for this missed lesson will still be required and it cannot be rescheduled. If you are having problems logging in, you must contact me immediately by phone, email, text/WhatsApp, or via my website.
1.4 Online Environment
All my online tuition is carried out with audio and video switched on. I must be able to hear the student and see the student's full face at all times. Students are not permitted to take screenshots of my PowerPoints or to make their own recordings of the online lessons. I may record lessons myself as set out in Section 1.8 (one-to-one tuition) and Section 2.3 (pair and group tuition)
1.5 Cancellations
For one to one students, the following cancellation policy applies. I expect students to attend their lessons every week. One cancellation per student per term can be accommodated, provided at least 24 hours notice is given. Any further cancellations within that term will be charged for, even if 24 hours notice is provided. I also reserve the right to charge the full lesson fee for any lesson cancelled by the student or parent or guardian with less than 24 hours notice.
For students attending in pairs or groups, lessons are expected to be attended every week and cancellations are not permitted. Further details are provided below in Section 2. Terms for Pair and Group Tuition.
1.6 Resources
All revision notes, recordings and resources provided are for the personal use of the student only and must not be shared or redistributed.
1.7 Additional Work
I can sometimes carry out work outside of the lesson, such as marking additional past papers. This will be charged on a pro rata basis.
1.8 Lesson Recordings (one-to-One Tuition)
One-to-one lessons may be recorded for the student's revision use, but only with your written consent at the point of registration. You may choose Yes or No to recording on the registration form, and your choice can be changed at any time by emailing me.
If you consent to recordings:
• Only the screen content (PowerPoints, worked examples, past papers) and audio (my voice and the student's voice) will be recorded. No video image of your child is captured or stored.
• Recordings will be uploaded to the student's private folder in Google Drive, accessible only by the student and parent/guardian.
• A written transcript of the lesson, generated by Zoom's AI Companion, may also be uploaded alongside the recording to make it searchable.
• Recordings are for the student's personal revision use only and fall under the sharing restrictions in Section 1.6.
• Recordings will be deleted when the student leaves Simply Chemistry.
• You may request that a specific recording be deleted at any time.
•
Recordings will never be shared externally, used for marketing, uploaded to public platforms, or shown to anyone outside your family.
2. Terms for Pair & Group Tuition
2.1 Enrolment
Students wishing to sign up for pair tuition must come as a ready-made pair. Students wishing to sign up for group tuition do not need to come as a ready-made group; however, lessons cannot run unless there is a minimum of three students in the group. If a group reduces to only one student, the lessons will stop unless the remaining student wishes to continue at the 1-to-1 rate until another student can be found.
2.2 Payment & Absences
Each student in a pair or group must pay monthly in advance. Should any student not be able to attend a particular lesson, the payment for that lesson will still be taken. Unfortunately, cancellations are not an option for students signed up for pair or group tuition.
2.3 Lesson Recordings
All pair and group lessons are recorded as a standard part of the service. By enrolling your child in pair or group tuition, you are giving permission for every lesson to be recorded. This is a condition of joining a pair or group, and is not optional, as recordings form part of the shared revision resources for all members of the group.
• Only the screen content and audio (my voice and the students' voices) will be recorded. No video image of any child is captured or stored.
• Recordings will be uploaded to the group's shared folder in Google Drive, accessible to all current members of the group.
• A written transcript of the lesson, generated by Zoom's AI Companion, may also be uploaded alongside the recording to make it searchable.
• Recordings are for the personal revision use of group members only and fall under the sharing restrictions in Section 1.6.
• When a student leaves the group (for any reason), their access to all group recordings will be removed.
• Recordings will never be shared externally, used for marketing, uploaded to public platforms, or shown to anyone outside the group.
3. Disclaimers and Final Points
3.1 Grade Guarantee
Whilst I will always endeavour to do my best for every student, I cannot, and do not, guarantee a specific grade will be achieved by a student in any examination.
3.2 Changes to Terms
I reserve the right to make changes to my terms and conditions at any time. Notice of any changes will be given to students and parents already in the timetable.
